About me

Hi, I’m Alex – welcome to my website. I’m an artist and writer. I create picture books, drawings and paintings at my studio in Edinburgh. I’ve drawn since I could hold a pencil and love making stories and characters come alive to entertain children and adults. I used to work in PR, media and marketing and fitted in my love of art and storytelling via the Arvon Foundation, at summer schools in Children’s Picture Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art and online courses with Curtis Brown Creative and the Good Ship Illustration. Plus training in life drawing, landscape painting, monoprinting and Chinese brush painting with Edinburgh Drawing School, Leith School of Art and the National Galleries of Scotland/Picturehooks. My goal is to bring the fun and and enjoyment of my picture books to a worldwide audience – ahoy publishers! You can explore some of my ideas on this website.
